Short answer. Stake's terms name Ontario among prohibited jurisdictions but not Nunavut, and Stake operates under a Curaçao Gaming Authority licence. Gaming inside Nunavut is set by the territory, which licenses charities for bingo, raffles and casino events. The age of majority there is 19, and Stake asks for 18 or the local age of majority, whichever is higher.

Stake Nunavut: What the Terms Say

Questions about Stake in Nunavut have two layers: what Stake's terms allow, and what the territory decides for gaming inside its borders. Stake is run by Medium Rare N.V. (company no. 145353, Seru Loraweg 17 B, Curaçao) under Curaçao Gaming Authority licence OGL/2024/1451/0918.

Clause 14.3 of the terms lists the prohibited jurisdictions. In Canada it names Ontario, so players located in Ontario cannot use Stake. It names no territory, which means Nunavut is not on the list.

  • "Stake is closed to every province and territory."

Only Ontario is named. Canada as a country is not on the list.

  • "At 18, anyone can sign up."

Stake's rule is 18 or the local age of majority, whichever is higher (clause 4.4). Nunavut's Age of Majority Act sets 19.

  • "If the site opens, my location does not matter."

Clause 14.4 treats location-hiding tools and false location details as a breach, so register from where you actually are.

How Gambling Is Regulated in Nunavut

Gaming rules in Canada are regional: the licence and the rules differ by province and territory, inside one federal framework.

  1. Criminal Code, section 207

Says who may run lotteries: a province's government, or a charity holding a provincial licence. The Interpretation Act reads "province" as including Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, with the Commissioner as Lieutenant Governor in Council.

  2. Nunavut Lotteries Act

The Commissioner may regulate and licence people or organizations to run the lottery schemes the Criminal Code permits in Nunavut. Breaking the Act or its regulations carries fines of up to C$500, then C$2,000 for repeat offences.

  3. Lotteries Regulations

The Minister may licence a charitable or religious organization to run bingo, Nevada tickets, a casino event, poker tournaments, a raffle or a sports draft. Applications go in at least a month ahead.

  4. Consumer Affairs

This office of the Department of Community and Government Services, based in Baker Lake, licenses groups in 13 communities, Iqaluit among them. Groups in the other communities apply to their own municipality.

People raising money for personal reasons through raffles are not eligible, and the territory reminds residents that holding a lottery without a licence is a Criminal Code offence. These pages name no online casino. Read section 207 and the lottery licences page.

What Is Offered Locally: Bingo, Raffles and Lottery Tickets

Local gambling means charity events under licence and lottery tickets. The territory's pages list no online casinos in Nunavut.

  • Bingo

Run by licensed charities, with one bingo a week at most per licence holder.

  • Nevada tickets

Pull-tab or break-open tickets. No one under 16 may buy or sell them.

  • Raffles

Open to registered charitable and religious groups, not to personal fundraisers.

  • Casino events

A licence runs three consecutive days at most, and under-19s stay out of the casino area.

  • Poker

Poker tournaments, including Texas Hold'em, are a licensed scheme of their own.

  • Sports draft

Sports draft lotteries are licensed too, with their own rules for the draft.

Lottery tickets

Nunavut takes part in the Western Canada Lottery as an associate member of the Western Canada Lottery Corporation, alongside Yukon and the Northwest Territories. A report to Nunavut's Legislative Assembly counts five terminals in four communities on 31 March 2024: Baker Lake, Iqaluit, Kugaaruk and Rankin Inlet. Under Nunavut's Western Canada Lottery Act, the profits go to sport and recreation.

Are there slots in Nunavut?

The territory's list of licensed schemes has no slot machines, and the Criminal Code keeps slot machines and computer or video-device games out of the charity licence route (section 207(4)(c)). A permanent casino venue is not listed either. Online, Stake's lobby holds 6,000+ casino games, and the Legacy of Dead page shows what one slot looks like.

Nunavut Compared with Other Territories and Provinces

Because gaming is regional, the same question gets a different answer in each place. This table compares by jurisdiction.

"None listed" means the territory's own pages name no online casino. Yukon differs on the ground: a 2014 Government of Yukon release describes Diamond Tooth Gerties Gambling Hall in Dawson City, run by a not-for-profit association. The alternatives page explains how the separate Stake sites for other countries fit in.

Payments and Connectivity in the Territory

Stake publishes no territory-specific cashier, so players in Nunavut see the Canadian one: a CAD wallet (enable local currency in Wallet) with these routes.

  • Interac.

Pick your bank, log in to online banking and accept. The status can take up to 24 hours.

  • Cards.

Visa and Mastercard in CAD, C$5-C$3,000 per transaction, near real time and sometimes 1-3 business days.

  • Crypto.

BTC, ETH, LTC, USDT and more, with no deposit maximum. Buying crypto by card runs through MoonPay or Swapped.

  • Withdrawals.

Interac pays out after an ID check, up to 3 business days, by an INTERAC e-Transfer email from Payper Inc. Each deposit must be wagered once (100%) first.

Connectivity matters as much as the method. A federal release of 2 April 2026 announced over C$86 million for a Northwestel project to bring unlimited high-speed Internet by satellite to 11,650 homes in all 25 communities, with no completion date. If a page drops mid-payment, check the wallet before sending again. Limits for each route are on the withdrawal limits page.

What to Do If Sign-Up or a Deposit Did Not Work

  1. 1 Confirm your email. CAD deposits assume a verified email address, so open the verification message and check the spam folder.
  2. 2 Finish the ID check. Stake may ask for contact details and ID before CAD deposits, and Interac withdrawals need a passport, national ID or driving licence.
  3. 3 Give Interac time. Wait the full 24 hours before a second deposit. A failed one returns within 3 business days.
  4. 4 Check the card. Keep the amount within C$5-C$3,000 and ask your bank whether it blocks gambling payments before you retry.
  5. 5 Read the location message. If Stake says it is unavailable where you are, do not try to hide or change your location, because that breaks clause 14.4. Ask live chat, open 24/7 once you are logged in.

The casino guides include a written first-hour walk-through for new accounts.
